Retail 4.0
In the Amazonian age of retail, the old guard is battening down the hatches. Rather than pointing winward moving with the seas of change and picking up momentum many brands are caught in the current. Experience is the new cliché and for good reason. But based what foundations? What should stores now strive to deliver? And why? What is the new currency that they should measure success by? What will they be in the Retail 4.0 era? And how do you start now?

Searching Out-Loud - Understanding Search In a Mobile-First, Voice-Enabled World
"“Hey Siri, what is zero divided by zero?”
“Alexa, what is the loneliest number?
""Alexa, Tea. Earl Grey. Hot.""

While the answers to these questions may surprise you, the ramifications are very real – there’s only a single result in voice search. One! Do you currently rank 2nd for that phrase? Do you appear in the Featured Snippet/Answer Box? Well…

And, Google’s been threatening their “mobile-first” index for a while now. Are you ready? Are you still dragging around an m..com site? A .mobi? Does responsive only apply to your customer service team?

The struggle is real. The game is evolving. Scott will offer practical suggestions and tactics for addressing these changes. Come listen!"

Untapped Value of Mobile Applications in the Enterprise
We all get work done on our phones now. Whether its just clearing out our inbox, reviewing documents or something more meaningful - having access to a powerful, internet connected computer in our pockets has made an impact on the speed and amount of work we can do. In this talk, we’ll go over the value of building internal mobile applications that make your workforce more efficient. Citing relevant case studies, we’ll look at success stories and their cost. Additionally, we’ll look at some of the challenges and workarounds for connecting mobile applications to internal systems that were often built before mobile was relevant. Smart Cities: The Future of Mobility
The possibilities emerging tech in mobility brings are overwhelming and incredibly exciting. Self-driving vehicles, vehicles communicating with each other, with street lights, with traffic ops centers, IoT from smart infrastructure applied in improving predictive analytics, 3D printing of vehicle parts or entire vehicles, innovations in freight, open data, and web/mobile applications to democratize communication all make for an exciting future. All of these improving and emerging technologies are making their way into the transportation world and can lead to positive or negative implications. Positive, if we can end up in a world in which we used the application of emerging technologies to address and solve many of the mobility issues we see or experience in out communities today. The Atlanta Regional Commission is helping guide policies throughout Metro Atlanta to shape the world we want to live in. Cities across the US are springboarding off of their Smart Cities Challenge proposals. Internationally, cities like London are working with start-ups and industry partners in new ways to prototype and hack solutions.

FoodFinder: A Mobile Approach to Ending Food Insecurity
"FoodFinder is a safe, secure and award-winning mobile and web app that gives food insecure children and their families a way to find free resources quickly. With just a tap, FoodFinder is hoping to have a solution that is one step closer to fighting poverty in the United States. The idea for the app came from Jack Griffin in 2013, when he was 15 years old, after watching a 60 Minutes interview of a 12 year old girl and her 10 year old brother. The children and their parents were homeless and constantly trying to find means for their next meal. Jack didn’t have an idea of what children living in poverty even looked like. In January 2014, he started researching Georgia poverty, and the homeless services coordinator for the Gwinnett County Public Schools informed him that there are children living in spaces meant for boxes and furniture. After being exploited out of what little money they have by cheap, unsafe hotels, storage units are the last resort for poor families if they want a roof over their head. Jack, like many others, had no idea the kinds of struggles that happen to other families right down the street from him.

After watching this piece, Jack decided to help kids in his own community. He wanted to join in the fight against child hunger and food insecurity in Georgia, but he sought to do something more than just volunteering at a food bank. He wanted to do something that would serve many kids and would last."
