In March of 2017 the online advertising world was rocked when some of the biggest brands in the world found evidence their video advertisements were aligned in front of and overlaid on ISIS recruitment videos. In response many of these advertisers halted all YouTube advertising which has become known as the Adpocalypse of 2017. While some of these brands have since resumed advertising, there is an ongoing debate about whether a brand can advertise online in 100% safe environments. In this session we will explore how online media buying works, what caused the Adpocalypse and solutions moving forward.
